  • What type and capacity backpack do I need? (Kelty Red Cloud, Kelty Coyote or our youth bags Kelty Lynx, Kelty Tioga Jr.)
  • What type of tent do I need?  (Kelty Crestone, MSR Hubba, MSR Hubba Hubba, MSR Mutha Hubba)
  • What sleeping bag rating do I need?  (Kelty Light Year 40 or Kelty Light Year 20 degree)

The Backpacks: all manufactured by Kelty

* renting a rain cover for your backpack is strongly recommended.
  • The Red Cloud series works well for extended backcountry trips as well as weekend trips.
  • The Coyote series works well for weekend trips or ultra light trips.
  • The number following the backpack name is the capacity of the bag in cubic inches. The Red Cloud 5600 is our largest bag and the Tioga Jr 2050 is our smallest.
  • To determine if a pack will fit you, you need to know your torso length. Measure your torso from the nape of your neck to your waist line.  For more information: How to measure my torso.
  • Woman specific bags allow more adjustments to suite a woman’s anatomy, but they are not absolutely necessary if you are a woman
  • Our adolescent/children packs are the Lynx and the Tioga Jr.
      • The Lynx is well suited for an adolescent
      • The Tioga Jr is made for small children or adolescents (ages: 5-12) and is an external frame backpack
