*Why should I rent gear?
There are various reasons to rent gear from us. First and foremost, you will be outfitted with new, or almost new, quality, technical gear from award winning manufacturers at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase the equipment.

Various other reasons include:

-You would like to try a new recreational activity and need some gear to give it a try.

-You have some outdoor gear but want to try a new recreational activity for which you do not have the proper gear.

-You have all of your gear already, but need an extra item for a particular trip.

-You have all of your own gear and a friend or family member is coming to visit. You decide to go on an outdoor adventure and need some gear for them.

-You went out of state for a wedding and the Groom ran off with the Maid of Honor.

-You are visiting from another country and want to take a few days to explore the outdoors.

- You are on a business trip or attending a conference that finished early. You cannot change your flights, and there you are in a great location with no outdoor gear.

-You are having an overnight birthday party or a slumber party for your son/daughter and they want ALL of their friends to come.

-You want to give camping a try, but are a little unsure if your family will enjoy the activity or if your children are old enough for a camping trip.

You would like to try a new recreational activity and need some gear.
We will supply the gear you need to participate in many outdoor recreational activities. Renting gear allows you to enjoy your experience with high quality, technical gear, not hand-me-downs from friends and family. This way you can truly assess if the activity is something you would like to do again, and assure your trip is not negatively impacted by poor quality or substandard gear.

You have some outdoor gear but want to try a new recreational activity for which you do not have the proper gear.
You are a car camping pro, but now you want to give backpacking or kayak camping a try. We will provide you with quality technical gear that will make your trip rock.

You have all of your own gear already, but need an extra item for a particular trip.
You are kitted out to the max. You have everything that you need, but this time you are venturing off trail and you would like the added assurance of carrying a personal locater beacon device. Or you are getting ready to go on a trip and when you get out your sleeping bag, you find that it is moldy, as your lovely brother, who borrowed it last month, put it away wet.

You have all of your own gear and a friend or family member is coming to visit. You decide to go on an outdoor adventure and need some gear for them.
Have your friend or family member rent gear from us. The gear will be delivered directly to your home and you're ready to go. And the best thing? They will have technical, comfortable, gear and will be able to keep up with you.

You went to Washington State for a wedding and the Groom ran off with the Maid of Honor.
Well there you are - no gear and a few days in Washington State. The solution is simple. Call us and we will overnight everything you need to get into the outdoors.

You are visiting the US from the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany or even New Zealand and you would like to explore the US National Parks and Wilderness.
You may rent gear from us in one city, go over landing, explore the Country and drop off the gear in another city. Gear can be delivered to a hotel or to a UPS (United Postal Service) location for pickup. When you are finished with the gear, simply drop it off at your final hotel concierge desk or any UPS location, pay any extra-due shipping charges and ship the gear back to us.

We will be able to assist you with where to pick up and drop off the gear.

We may also assist you in determining where you may want to go and what you may like to see.

You are on a business trip or attending a conference that finished early. You cannot change your flights, and there you are in a great location with no outdoor gear.
You are out of town on business and the meetings finished early. The airline is unable to change your flight and you have a few days to kill. The solution? Have some gear sent to you, ditch the hotel, and get into the outdoors.

You are having an overnight birthday party or slumber party for your son/daughter and they want ALL of their friends to come.
Having a house full of children or teens can be exhilarating, but quite daunting as well. Our solution? Have a different type of party by having a backyard campout with fun outdoor activities, such as flashlight tag, a pool party or a nighttime campfire. (If you are under a fire restriction, take the opportunity to teach your children why that is and use the grill to roast marshmallows and use tea light candles in piled up “fire” wood to give ambiance to the “campsite” at night.)

To make having a backyard campout easy we offer Backyard Packages and Birthday Campout Packages through GITTO Gone Easy.

You want to give camping a try, but are a little unsure if your family will enjoy the activity or if your children are old enough for a camping trip.
Firstly, children of any age are able to go camping, that includes infants, toddlers and of course, older children. Secondly, by renting our gear, you will be well equipped for your camping trip at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase the gear yourself. You will be able to determine if camping is something your family will enjoy before purchasing all of your own gear. Our GITTO Gone Easy Packages make it easy to select the gear that you will need.

You may also decide that you are not ready to venture too far from home and that a backyard campout would be a great introduction. One of our Backyard Campout Packages through GITTO Gone Easy, may be perfect for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will have 24-hour access to Medical Phone support, but please keep in mind that you are responsible for assuring you have satellite phone service.

*Do you offer manuals on the gear you rent?

We will ship a copy of the user manuals for our SuperFly and PocketRocket stoves with rental of these items.

*What will I be charged if the gear is lost or stolen?
You will be charged full retail value for lost or stolen gear. It is your responsibility to assure the rental gear is secure from theft or being misplaced.

*The gear was lost/stolen, now what?
If you wish, we will send a replacement item(s) overnight to you to replace the lost/stolen item(s), once a secure address (a hotel, or UPS location) is obtained. The credit card we have on file will be billed the retail value of the lost item(s) and for the replacement shipping.

*Do I need to clean the gear prior to returning it to GITTO?
Rental gear will need to be dry and free of dirt and debris prior to boxing it for return shipping back to GITTO. If the gear is wet, it may mold or mildew and a damaged gear charge may be applied to your account. If the gear is returned excessively dirty, a cleaning charge may be applied to your account. We will clean and wash the gear following its return and prior to the next rental – we expect some dirt with usage of the gear and do not expect you to launder any of the gear. We ask that the gear be free of excessive dirt and debris. Most importantly, the gear will need to be dry prior to shipping, as it will spend an average of 3 days in transit. Mold and mildew may develop and damage the gear. If the rental gear is saturated on your trip due to rain or submersion, please call us so we may discuss return options.

A Gear Care Form will be included with each order, which will outline care of the equipment. Please refer to this guideline prior to shipping gear back to us.

To return gear to us, you may save and use the same box and packaging in which the gear arrived or you may purchase new packing materials at UPS. Please assure that you receive your drop off receipt from UPS and retain it for your records until final billing has been processed.

For example, if you have a 3-day rental for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then our gear will need to be returned to a UPS location on Monday. If the rental gear is completely saturated from your trip and will not be dry on the required day of return shipment, we ask that you contact us at 1-877-464-4886 (1-877-GoGITTO) so return arrangements may be discussed.

To view our shipping policy click Shipping Policy.

*How do you assure I will receive the gear in time for my trip?
When you order from us we guarantee your gear will be delivered in time for your trip or you will receive a discount for the days the gear is late. If an order needs to be expedited, you will be contacted, prior to gear being shipped, for your approval of additional shipping cost.

If you are considering renting gear from us, it is most cost efficient for you to place your order at least one week in advance to avoid expedited shipping costs. You will also be able to choose various shipping options/costs at the time of checkout to expedite the shipping process yourself.

This being said, there are events that are out of our control (snow storms, hurricanes, national security events, etc). If your gear is late due to a natural event, or national security issues, we apologize but we will not be able to accept responsibility for this delay and rental rates will be charged to your account.

*What type of gear do you rent?
We rent new, or almost new, quality gear from award-winning manufacturers. Each item in our Backpack Series is lightweight, technical, and specialized for backpacking.

*What gear do I need for my backpack adventure trip?
The only essential item that you will need is a backpack. Additional gear needs are based on the type of trip you are planning. Will you need a tent, or will you sleep under the stars? Will you need water purification/filtration or will there be potable water available to you? Will you need to cook all of your meals or will you be able to purchase your food at your camp area? You will need to evaluate where it is that you are planning on backpacking. Our gear rental specialist will be able to assist you in determining what additional gear you will need. For most trips, you will need; a backpack, a sleeping pad, a sleeping bag, a cook stove and fuel, some cookware, kitchenware and eating utensils, a hydration system and a water container.

*What other gear will I want to consider taking along?
- GPS
- Map case - to keep your map dry
- Compass
- Camp chair
- Trekking poles
- Personal locater beacon
- Safety kit
- Signal mirror (an old CD works very well)
- Shower or shower adapter
- Lighter and/or waterproof matches
- Journal or some loose pages to record your thoughts/experiences.
- Few pages torn out of your book to have something to read.
(Torn out pages reduces weight when backpacking)
- GITTO Camp bath kit

* There are numerous items that may be taken along that are personal in choice. Since you will be carrying all of the items yourself, you should limit the number and weight of the items.

- Be sure to check out our Forum for backpack menu ideas and to share your favorites.

*What else do I need to consider?
As a novice backpacker, there are numerous things to consider and we strongly recommend taking a course on backpacking prior to setting out on your own. Many organizations offer courses.

*Do you have manuals on the items I rented?
Yes.

*May I print the manuals to take on my trip?
Yes, you may download and print the manuals from the links on our website. Manuals for specific items are located on their respective information/order page.

*Do you sell your gear?
We are not a retail store for gear purchases. We will occasionally offer our used gear for sale with priority to GITTO Members.

*How may I speak to a company representative?
You may call us at 1-877-464-4886 (1-877-GoGITTO) or 904-252-5170, Monday - Friday 9 am – 9 pm EST.

*How do I pack a backpack?
As a novice backpacker, there are numerous things to consider and we strongly recommend taking a course on backpacking prior to setting out on your own. Many organizations offer courses. That said, below is the recommended way to pack a backpack.

• Start by packing your cooking fuel inside the pack at the bottom in case of spills. You may also want to first place your fuel container(s) inside a Ziploc bag. Be sure the cap is placed back on after each use and is on tight. Stow the fuel upright.
• Then place your sleeping bag, pillow and other lightweight items into the base of the backpack.
• Place the heaviest items inside the pack, close to your back, near your shoulder blades.
• For on trail hiking - pack the heavier items near your back toward the top of your pack to center the weight over your hips.
• For off trail hiking - pack the heavy items near your back toward the bottom of your pack to keep your center of gravity low for better balance.
• Utilize one of the side pockets to access frequently used items (sunscreen, map, compass, binoculars, snacks, pack rain cover, your safety kit and moleskin or athletic tape for hot spots on your feet).
• Once the backpack is completely packed, tighten all of the compression straps to prevent load shifts.
• Placing your clothing and other items in compressible stuff sacks will make packing and retrieving items easier.
• If rain is a possibility (it almost always is) line the backpack with a trash compactor plastic bag and place all of your gear inside the bag as described above. You may also want to rent a pack rain cover to assure your gear stays dry. Wet gear becomes much heavier to carry.
• Use every space – pack a dishtowel inside your cook set.
• If you are backpacking with someone, split the weight of the tent and other common items.
• You may strap some items to the outside of your pack, but limit these items. This is a great place to carry your camp shoes or strap your trekking pole. Be sure to secure the items so they do not swing.
• Be sure to take along some duct tape and large safety pins in case the packs straps or zippers fail.
• We suggest packing your pack the night before the trip to assure you have time for adjustments. You may also want to take a short hike with your loaded backpack first to see how things feel.
• Be sure to trim your toenails if you will be going up/down hills, or you may loose a toenail or two!

For the Child’s External Frame Backpack– Tioga Jr
You will want to place their sleeping bag and camp pillow in first, then place their clothing atop, away from their back. Place any heavier items high inside the pack close to their back. This will help center the pack weight over their hips and make it easier to walk upright.

*Do I really need hiking poles?
No. Hiking poles are not essential for backpacking, however, they greatly reduce the load on your knees as you hike and provide stability on uneven terrain. Hiking poles will also be of great assistance with river crossings. Some people find hiking with two poles cumbersome and choose to hike with one pole.

*Do you offer Introduction to Backpacking Courses?
At this time we do not, however we will be offering Introduction to Backpacking courses through our GITTO Events department soon.

*Do you have any organized trips for backpacking?
At this time we do not. GITTO Events is planning to sponsors several trips a year.

What else do I need to consider?
Do you have manuals on the items I rented?
May I print the manuals to use in my yard?
Do you sell your gear?
How may I speak to a company representative?

*What type of gear do you rent?
We rent quality camping gear by award winning manufactures. Our backyard campout gear is true camping gear and will withstand the elements.

*What gear do I need for my backyard campout?
You will need tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and some pillows.

*What other gear will I want to consider?
If you are planning on expanding your camping options to local and national campsites, try to pretend you are not at home and have everything that you need for your campout with you in your backyard. Only use the showers, toilets, and perhaps the stove inside your home. This will provide great insight into what you need and what works well for you.

*What else do I need to consider?
You can save some money by using some egg crate mattresses inside the tents, instead of our camp pads. You could then use the mattresses as spare beds when your kids have sleepovers in the future.

You could also save some money on rentals by using your own sleeping bags or some of your own blankets.

Our backyard campout tents are quality tents that can stand up to rain and wind. If the weather is not absolutely perfect, you can still have the campout. Sometimes, this actually creates better memories of the event.

If the weather is not cooperating, consider having some “tent” games. Kids love being outdoors in the tents, and having your full attention.

Be sure to have some activities planned ahead of time. Children get a big kick out of flashlights so flashlight tag is always a big hit.

*Do you have manuals on the items I rented?
Yes.

*May I print the manuals?
Yes, you may download and print the manuals from the links on our website. Manuals for specific items are located on their respective information/order page.

*What gear do I need for my couples adventure trip?
The gear that is needed will depend on what type of activity you are going to participate in; Car Camping, Backpacking, Paddle Trips, etc. The primary thing to remember is that you are going on a trip as a Couple. The most essential item is the shower. No one wants to get close to someone who smells. If you will be car camping, most campgrounds offer showers. If you will be in the backcountry – we strongly suggest you take along our shower or shower adapter. Nothing is more romantic than taking a backcountry shower with each other. One of you may hold the shower and the camp towel for the other while they bathe. That said, the next item that is essential for a couple's comfort is the universal mattress coupler strap (not needed for our Dream Time Mattresses). This will allow you to sleep next to one another without the mattresses slipping apart and one of you falling between the mattresses. If you are car camping, our Kelty Eclipse Double Bag and our Therm-a-Rest Dream Time Camp Mattress are wonderful for couples, however they are not practical for the backcountry due to their size and weight. Items for specific types of trips may be viewed under their respective Adventure Series – Backpack, Paddle, etc. You may also want to look into renting one of our GITTO Gone Easy Packages and add a few couple friendly items to your order. If you are going car camping, be sure to check out GITTO Gone Easy Couples Car Camping Package. For backpack trips see GITTO Gone Easy Couples 40 Degree and 20 Degree Backpack Packages.

*What other gear will I want to consider taking along?
What you take along will depend on what type of trip you are doing. See our Adventure Series for gear items specific to the type of adventure you will be undertaking. That said the ideal Couples Camping Adventure should have a larger tent, our Kelty Yellowstone four or six person, two of our Therm-a-Rest Dream Time Mattresses, one of our Kelty Double Sleeping Bags, some of your bed pillows from home, a small grill, a cooler with ice, some of our Lexan barwear (wine, mixed drink, champagne or margarita glasses), our Cascadian Two Person Dining Set, some fancy smelling shower gels for both him and her, your razor and some cute night clothes.

Backcountry trips pose more of a challenge for Couples Romance Trips as one needs to consider the weight and compressibility of any item they want to take along. For true backcountry trips, we recommend taking some of our Lexan barware, one of our 1L Platypus bags with a closure cap for your cocktail of choice, some of our MSR Dromodary or MSR DromLite bags and shower adapter.

*What else do I need to consider?
The following tips may assist you in having a romantic time in the woods.

Car Camping Couples

* Plan your trip for romance, not extreme adventure. Don't overbook your days. Keep your schedule light and enjoy your time together, on the trail or in camp.

* Take some time in selecting your campsite. Pick a campground that has fewer sites that are spread out over the property. Avoid RV campgrounds and try to find a tent only campground. Look specifically for "hike in" sites. Most of these sites have a short walk from your vehicle. Foot traffic around your site will be much less and you are less likely to have a family reunion next to you.

* Plan your meals in advance. They can be as extravagant as your imagination will allow. See our forum for some wonderful camp recipes. Make cooking and eating together a major focus of the trip.

* Remember - Sounds travel at night. It may be a romantic get-a-way for you, but the campsite next door may be a family weekend.

* Keep a package of Huggies Extreme Baby Wipes and a small plastic bag for trash in your tent. (an unofficial survey concluded these were the most durable wipes out there)

* The #1 Tip for Couples Camping - Take a shower before you retire to your tent for the night.
    • taking a shower just before bed will wash off any fire smoke, bug spray or sweaty body odors and will make sleeping close to one another more pleasant.
    • if it's a hot night, shower with cool water, you will feel more refreshed.
    • Take along some nice smelling soap, body lotion and your deodorant (yes, we've heard it said that if you smell nice, you will attract critters, but seriously, we've smelled delightful in the American South West Deserts, the jungles of Central America, on the African savannas, in the deep swamps of Southern Georgia, along the Archipelago of Puget Sound -- and we have Never been bothered by any more insects or critters than any of our fellow stinky co-campers.)
Backcountry Couples - all of the above applies for the backcountry as well.

* Something to consider is to utilize a backcountry base camp. Set up your camp and spend your time enjoying the surrounding area and each other.

*The best thing about the backcountry is that your campsite will be private and beautiful.

*Meal planning takes a little more forethought and planning but wonderful meals, even for backpackers, are possible.

* Rule #1 - If you are in the backcountry, there is no excuse for not taking a shower. Our Dromedary Shower Adapter works wonderfully.
    • heat some water on your stove and have a warm shower. Each of you can take turns holding the shower bag and the towel for the other while they bathe. There is nothing more sexy than watching the one you love take a shower.

*What else do I need to consider?
You may want to consider trying a backyard campout first to introduce your kids to camping, sleeping in a tent and to see what works for you. Or you may want to consider a campout at a local campground, close to home, before venturing further a field.

Be sure to bring a favorite toy or item for each child.

Plan some activities ahead of time. Flashlight tag at night is always fun for everyone. Camp obstacle courses are easy to set up using some imagination. Frisbee Golf is always fun and can be played almost anywhere.

Have some activities planned in the event of rain. Bring along a board game or a video game IF everyone can play at the same game. Cut out camp luminaries to illuminate your campsite at night when the rain stops (these are fun to make in any kind of weather. See our blog for information on how to make these wonderful camp accessories.)

Another fun camp activity is to research which plants or animals live in the are you will be visiting. Visit an on-line coloring page web site and print out images of the local flora and fauna and have your children color them. While they color, discuss the plants and animals and teach them about wildlife. Images may be found at http://www.coloring.ws/animals.html

Do you sell your gear?
How may I speak to a company representative?
Do you offer Introduction to Glamping Courses?
Do you have any organized trips for Glamping?

What type of gear do you rent?
We rent new or almost new items by quality manufacturers that are geared toward "modified" Glamping.

What is Glamping?
Glamping: (n.) Glamorous Camping. (Adj.) A form of camping in which the participants enjoy amenities usually associated with five star accommodations

The founders at GITTO feel that it is essential for everyone to Get into the Outdoors, even those of us that are, well, a little fussier. Therefore, we promote Glamping.

Glamping originated in Africa, decades ago, in upscale safari Camps where guests lounged inside large canvas tents adorned with king size beds, elegant beddings, Persian carpets, antique furniture, fluffy towels, and pillow misters. They experienced stunning views in all directions and spent their afternoons at high tea, while on site chefs prepared decadent meals. Guests enjoyed every imaginable luxury, in a very wild setting. Lucky for us, many such establishments still exist in Africa today.

Within the last few years, a scaled down version has been gaining popularity in the United Kingdom following glimpses of well known super models, such as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, wearing Wellies (farm boots) and mucking through the mud toward flowered tents at campout music festivals. Pictures of models roughing it have inspired the craze in the UK.

Slowly, the trend is crossing the Atlantic. Five star Safari-style Glamping resorts are being established in the United States and Canada, along with their hefty price tags, sometimes exceeding $1,000 a day. Little, by little, articles on Glamping are appearing in popular magazines. Blog sites are starting to debate if Glamping is truly camping and manufacturers of outdoor gear are starting to produce items such as tents with electric outlets, hand crank blenders and Lexan bar supplies.

More and more people are starting to apply the techniques of the high-end Glamping resorts to their everyday campsites, making the outdoors a little more luxurious and comfortable. Although they sometimes find themselves trying to get around the stigma of what camping "should be".

What gear do I need for my Glamping Adventure trip?
You will need a large luxurious canvas tent, a four posted king size bed, a few Persian carpets, a few lambs wool throws, a pillow mister, china dishes, crystal stemware, silver place settings, linen napkins and tablecloths, a few Turkish candle lanterns, Turkish robes, and towels and a personal chef.
Now - What do you need for a Modified Glamping Adventure?
You will need a larger tent - our Kelty Yellowstone four or six person, a Therm-a-Rest Dream Time Mattress, some of your finer sheets and pillow cases from home or one of our Kelty Sleeping Bags, some of your bed pillows from home, a small grill, a cooler with ice, some of our Lexan barwear (wine, mixed drink, champagne or margarita glasses), some of your tableware from home or our one of our Cascadian Dining Sets, some fancy smelling shower gels and lotions, your razor and some cute night clothes.
What about the Backcountry?
Backcountry trips pose more of a challenge for Glamping as one needs to consider the weight and compressibility of any item they want to take along. For true backcountry trips, we recommend taking some of our Lexan barware, one of our 1L Platypus bags with a closure cap for your cocktail of choice, some of our Dromodary or DromLite bags and shower adapter. Take along some nice smelling soap and your deodorant (yes, we've heard it said that if you smell nice, you will attract critters, but seriously, we've smelled delightful in the American South West Deserts, the jungles of Central America, on the African savannas, in the deep swamps of Southern Georgia, along the Archipelago of Puget Sound -- and we have Never been bothered by any more insects or critters than any of our fellow stinky co-campers.)

What other gear will I want to consider taking along?
Anything that will enhance your Glamping experience. We suggest utilizing the Glampsite as your base camp and taking wonderful day excursions into the wilderness.

- Map case - to keep your map dry
- Compass
- Camp chair

- A book

What else do I need to consider?
A Glampsite is a special place. It does not really fit in amongst RV’s at common campsites. You need to find the ideal place for it. The most ideal Glampsites are located in stunningly beautiful primitive campsites where you have access to your vehicle. Seclusion is a must. Beautiful surroundings are a must. The site must also have wonderful Day trip activities available. It will take a little work to find the perfect spot, but it will be well worth your time investment.

*Do you have manuals on the items I rented?
Yes.

*May I print the manuals to take on my trip?
Yes, you may download and print the manuals from the links on our website. Manuals for specific items are located on their respective information/order page.

- Keeping your life vest on at all times when on the water.

*How do I pack a canoe?
We recommend taking a formal class or going on a trip with an outfitter, before you set out on your own. It is essential to know how to perform self-rescue and assisted rescues for canoe trips. Packing a canoe correctly will help maintain the stability and performance of the craft.

• Place your items inside a dry bag. You may use a large flat bottom dry bag to stow most of your gear to keep the load wide and low inside your canoe and make stowing your gear easier. Avoid trash bags, as they are prone to tears. If you need to use a trash bag, use a trash compactor bag.
• Pack your emergency equipment (safety kit, flares, radio, cell phone) in a waterproof bag and stow it where you will be able to reach it quickly.
• Place your canoe near the launch site to load.
• Place heavier items along the centerline, and distribute the weight evenly bow to stern, so both are equally in the water.
• Once you balance your load, secure the items to the canoe with a rope by placing them under the thwart (horizontal bar that holds the top edges of the canoe together) securing them with a rope.
• Utilize a day dry bag and secure this bag close to your seat for items you want easy and quick access to, such as rain gear, snacks, drinks, sun screen, bug spray, emergency gear.
• The great thing about taking a canoe is that you can take along a large cooler. Place this item dead center in your vessel and secure it, leaving access for entry to retrieve items inside throughout the day.

*How do I pack a kayak?
We recommend taking a formal class before you set out on your own. It is essential to know how to perform self-rescue and assisted rescues for kayak trips. Packing a kayak correctly will help maintain the stability and performance of the craft.

• Place your items inside a dry bag. Use various sizes to make stowing your gear easier. Avoid trash bags, as they are prone to tears. If you need to use a trash bag, use a trash compactor bag.
• Pack your emergency equipment (safety kit, flares, tow line, radio, cell phone) last so you will be able to reach them quickly. Better yet, keep these items in your daypack so you will have quick and easy access to them in case of an emergency.
• Place your kayak near the launch site to load.
• Place heavier items on the bottom of the bulkhead, along the center line, toward the seat of the kayak
• Avoid placing items on your deck (on top of the kayak), as you may need this area for reentry if you capsize.
• Place any items you want to get to first, in the kayak last
• Utilize a day dry bag near your cockpit for items you want easy and quick access to – rain gear, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, bug spray, emergency gear.
• If space allows, pack a large backpack/bag to use in unloading your boat at camp. Stuff some or all of your dry bags into the large backpack and carry it to the campsite. This will save you time from repeated trips to/from the kayak.

*How do I pack a raft for flat water?
Flat-water rafting trips are very relaxing and enjoyable. Packing for these trips is simple.

• Pack all of your gear inside dry bags.
• Secure all of the bags to one another and to the raft.
• Place heavier items toward the center, midline of the raft, and the rest of the items in the center atop the heavier items.

*How do I pack a raft/kayak for white water trips?
White water trips present many variables. We strongly recommend taking formal classes in how to approach and manage white water, especially if the trip has class III, IV and V rapids. There is no replacement for actual experience on a river. It is important to recognize that every river changes with increased/decreased water flow levels. Be sure you are within your level of experience or seek the assistance of a professional guide. Again, there is no replacement for experience.

• Pack all of your gear inside dry bags.
• Secure all of the bags to one another and to the raft with at least two different systems.
• Place heavier items toward the center and along the midline of the raft, and then place the rest of the items in the center atop the heavier items.
• Be sure all of your items are securely fastened to the raft and use at least two securing systems.

*Do you offer Introduction to Kayak/River Rafting/Canoe Courses?
At this time, we do not offer any instructional courses on paddle trips. We plan to offer these courses in the near future through our partner organizations.
